Welcome to the City of St. George Fire Department
The City of St. George Fire Department is made up of 22 full time staff aided by a volunteer staff of 60. The eighteen full time firefighters work rotating 24 hour shifts and each night two volunteers spend from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. at station #1 and #7 providing for a four person crew at night. The Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, and Battalion Chief work the day shift and are on call after hours.


The department includes seven stations located geographically throughout the city with volunteers being assigned to the station nearest to their home. All volunteers carry pagers and respond as needed. The department handles all fires, hazmat incidents, vehicle extractions, and other calls for assistance as needed within the city boundaries. In addition, the department serves as needed for backup on large incidents within the county. The department also performs inspections for compliance with fire codes and provides BLS medical services for the City.
